I can only think of two things that are really good about a deployment. 1. the adventure (for the person traveling) and 2. it eventually comes to an end.
A little over two weeks ago, John returned home from the Middle East after being gone for 4 months. I picked the kids up early from school and we all went to the airport to pick him up. Security took too long, so he had already landed and was up at his gate waiting for us. Maddie ran to him, and Scarlet went right to him as well. She didn't want to be put down for the rest of the day.
The kids watching the airplanes out the big window...
And...he's out for the count. He fell asleep after we got home around 1 pm, and then woke up for dinner, then was out on the couch. He moved up to the bed and then slept until 3 am. Then, he was WIDE AWAKE. Time changes and jet lag will do that to ya.
We are so glad that we have our daddy back!
