July 4th morning

The last few years, some pilots offer airplane rides at the Townsend Airport.  A few years ago, Sam went up for the first time.  This year, both Brooklyn and Madelyn were old enough to go too.

I had just finished reading Stephanie Nielson's book Heaven is Here.  In it she is involved in a terrible plane crash, and so those events kept creeping into my mind as my babies were up in the air.  I just had to take a deep breath, and remind myself that everything was going to be ok.
Sam was the lucky one to ride in the front.  The pilot offered to let him fly the plane up in the air, but he said no.  He is old enough to realize how important of a job that is!  Also along for the ride was a boy from  Townsend and cousin James.

 and they are off.....

The next group to go up was Madelyn and Brooklyn with their cousin Chase.

Brooklyn was a little nervous, and there were a few tears.  She pulled it together and made it through the ride.  I'm so glad she went up.  The pilot was so good with her and you could tell that it wasn't the first nervous child he had ever dealt with.

All the kids in front of a cool (WWII ?) airplane.
