A no good, very bad week

So two weeks ago we started out with three of us being sick.  Just a bad head cold.  I also thought I had a UTI.  (sorry if that's too much information.)  By the end of the week, we were all sort of getting better.  The first picture is of me and Scarlet chilling on my bed.  That's pretty much what we did, laid on the bed or sat on the couch and watched Army Wives.  (By the way, don't start watching that if your husband deploys!) She didn't last long before she wanted the camera.  Tears came and we had to put the camera away.

By the weekend all of us were feeling better, and the other two were getting the cold.  On Saturday we had a series of unfortunate events.  We were watching conference and our computer stopped working.   That's our only way of communicating with John, and I was freaking out a bit.  We had a friend send him a message and eventually went over to their house to skype with him.  Later in the day, that same friend came over and fixed the computer!  (Thank you, thank you, thank you!)

We found a home for our turtle Tom, because frankly I was tired of taking care of him.  He was pretty low maintenance, but cleaning out his aquarium was a pain.  We went to deliver him to his new family.   While rolling down the windows in the car, one of them broke and won't roll back up.  Later in the day we were being cool with all of our windows down and someone threw a rock into our car while we were driving.  Thankfully it was a small landscape rock and it didn't hit anyone.  We went to bed that night wondering what else could go wrong.
The next morning, I woke up feeling particularly great.  I was excited to listen to conference and we were going over to our friend's house for brunch afterwards.  I put together the things we were taking over there, showered up and then sat down to watch conference.  About an hour in, my back left side started hurting really bad.  Like an on the floor hunched over crying hiding in the closet so the kids can't see your face bad.  I decided that I needed to go to the emergency room.  I dropped the kids off at the friends house for the husband to take care of and my friend and I headed to the hospital.  I warned her that she probably shouldn't come.  I could be there for like 3 hours or something.  You never know with emergency rooms.  After waiting for 5 hours (FIVE!) in pain in the waiting room, I finally got in and a CT scan confirmed that I had a kidney stone.  It's always a relief when they find something wrong, so they don't think you are just crazy and making up the pain. Well, 3 hours after that, we finally headed home.  What a dear friend to stick with me through all of that.  I think I held it together because she was there with me.  I didn't want to go breaking down in front of anyone!! ;)

So this week, I've still been sitting around watching Army Wives.  Pain killers and kidney medicine sure make you feel like not getting off the couch.  Let's hope the next week brings easier challenges?
