We went to our first political rally last night. We took all the kids, and crammed into tight spaces to listen to Mitt Romney speak. Upon walking in, they hand you stickers and posters, and I could see the excitement building on everyone who was there. The kids were super excited until they realized they couldn't see a thing. They took turns on dad's shoulders taking a peek at the could-be president of the United States.
Sam wanted to come to this rally. He is old enough that he hears political snippets at school, the radio, and tv. He tried to get close enough to shake his hand at the end, but didn't quite make it.
To say that I'm not a political person would be an understatement. I hate all the mean and angry political jive that happens. I've never claimed a political party, and I still don't now. However, it was exciting to hear Mitt speak and I like his slogan Believe in America. His message seemed to be positive and encouraging. The man must be courageous to want the office he is running for. Let's be honest....it instantly gives you grey hair, wrinkles, and take 15 years off of your life from all the weight of responsibility. Have you ever noticed that the president always looks so tired and burdened after a few months in office? I noticed it with Bush and Obama.
Overall, it was a great experience for our family, and there weren't too many crazies there. (We did like the protester outside that was wearing black and white striped pants and had a bullhorn!)

Awesome! Aaron loves Mitt. He'll be so proud of you!
I feel the exACT same way about politics. I hate all the fighting and I feel bad for every president. It's a big job!
