A few months ago I went yard-sale-ing with friend. We came across these chairs and both really liked them. We were shocked that the owner was selling them for 10.00, 5 a piece! My friend ended up buying them. Just a few days ago, she decided that she had no room for them, and gave them to me! I was so excited! I started cleaning them and airing them out, but the leather still has a pretty strong smell to it. However, they are amazingly comfortable to sit in.

I started doing a little research on the net about them. They were designed by Ingmar Relling in 1964 and were manufactured by Westnofa furniture of Norway. I don't know if my set was made in the 60's, but probably at least the 70's. This is what they my have looked like originally....

And there is a place right here in las vegas that sells them! Rybo of Norway. I called them to find out how much it would be to buy a new cover for the cushions.....about 1400 dollars per chair. Ok, so these aren't cheap!

Any ideas to get the old leathery/smoky smell out of the leather?

Oh, I forgot to tell you that those chairs look really cool. I love that you know the history of them too.
Um, put them on E-bay and sell them...just an idea
