Penelope Rowan

She was born on Monday, December 14th.
7 pounds 4 ounces
Summerlin Hospital

We went into the hospital to get induced at 2 am, she was born around 6 pm.  It was a long day! I had never been induced before with my other babies and my body just wasn't sure what to think.  It took awhile for it to finally succumb to the medicine and start labor.
Lots of Pitocin, naps, nice nurses, painful contractions, finally an epidural that worked only on one side, then relief when the anesthesiologist fixed it.  Then our sweet little girl came shortly after.  I had the best of both worlds, I felt full force contractions at the end and then no pain at the very end.  She was tiny and perfect.  Dr. Martin barely had his scrubs on to deliver her and then it was over so quickly after a long wait.

Super dad right there.  He didn't utter a single complaint during the 16 hours!  I don't think he ever slept either.

All the kids got to come in and see her the night she was born.  They were in love!

A few more memories of that night:

-I almost fell on my nurse several times.  I wasn't getting the feeling back in my right knee and I kept forgetting that it wouldn't work and I would put weight on it.  They made me promise that I wouldn't try to stand and hold the baby.  By the middle of the night I could feel it again.

-The lady that serves the food kept a tray just for me because she knew I would be starving, and I was! (I did sneak a few bites of granola bar during labor though.)

The next day, all the kids went to school and Scarlet came to hang out with me and the baby while John ran into work for a few hours.  The nurses were all so nice to her!

Finally around 10:30 pm that night they discharged us and we loaded our little bundle up to head home.

And the only pictures I took with my camera...
