Epic Knudson Family trip: Day 3

MOUNT VERNON

We drove out to Fairfax County to see George Washington's estate.  It was definitely worth a visit!  It began being built in 1758. The farming part of the estate was all still going (real sheep!) and there were rolling green hills and an incredible view of the Potomac river.  My favorite part was the mansion itself, going in the rooms and walking through downstairs and upstairs. No pictures were allowed so you will have to go see it for yourself.  (But it was amazing.) There were thousands of people there, so we had to wait quite awhile to take the tour, but we all agreed that it was worth the wait.  While we were waiting, there were two museums, a short film, and all of the grounds to see.  We saw Ol' George's fake teeth, and lots of relics from that era that wealthier people would have had.
